Jumping into a new season, we've had another lightbulb moment.
Illumin8 has been offering bookkeeping services for a while. It’s been a journey involving many twists and turns. It was contracted, then it was offshored, then we brought it back in (the) house. When I started as an Accountant at illumin8 in December 2017 the bookkeeping business became by side-hustle. Building out that side of the business, improving the processes, bedding down our service offering, and helping guide and grow the skill set of the bookkeeping team. I am passionate about it - and truly care about the difference that a good bookkeeper can make to a business.
As we continued to grow bookkeeping it became clear to us that bookkeeping is an area we need to continue to focus on - and in order to do that really well from 1 July 2019 we are kicking illumin8 bookkeeping into its own little business - Illumin8 Ya Books. I will be stepping away from my Accounting responsibilities to head up this new business venture 100% to ensure that we keep kicking bookkeeping goals. I have always wanted to be able to give the bookkeeping business everything - and now with Illumin8 Ya Books we can!
It’s not that bookkeeping wasn’t kicking goals before, and the team weren’t doing an incredible job serving businesses around the country, because they were. After spending some time asking what’s next, and asking what our bookkeeping service could look like, we saw an incredible opportunity to change up the game once again.
It’s a new model for a new season. And we’re so thankful for what has been and for all those who have been a part of the journey so far. But we’re so excited for the future, knowing as we dive deep into these changes, we’ll continue to discover new ways of delivering killer value-rich bookkeeping services for our clients, old friends and new ones alike.
Everyday we ask clients what they are passionate about - what they care about. For me it is small business. Illumin8 really believes in helping clients do what they do best and give them more time to pursue their dreams. Bookkeeping can sometimes be at the core of that. We also believe that bookkeeping should not just be a transaction - we want to get to know you, your business, and build a solid relationship. When I am meeting with a new bookkeeping client, or reconciling a bank account, it is really important to me that I don't just see any of this as a business transaction. What has driven a particular decision? What are the pain points? How can Illumin8 help you understand and alleviate those?
In my bookkeeping utopia Illumin8 Ya Books would be helping hundreds of small businesses focus on running their business, empowering people to make great decisions, and relieving the stress of meeting ATO deadlines.
We will still be under the illumin8 roof with the same emails and phone numbers, but it’s new, it’s exciting, and it’s going to be a ripper 2020 FY.
